Catering to the water supply needs of industries in and around the Thoothukudi region, this state-of-the-art desalination plant serves as a pivotal resource, providing a substantial 60 MLD of purified water to sustain industrial operations.

Visionary Initiative:

SIPCOT unveils an ambitious plan to alleviate the persistent water scarcity within the SIPCOT Park. The proposed establishment of a cutting-edge 60 MLD desalination plant, at an investment of ₹975.47 Crores, aims to augment the park's water infrastructure, ensuring sustainable and reliable water access for the numerous industrial entities housed within.

TTRO Plant

Overview

Location and Specifications:

Location: Hosur, Krishnagiri

Proposed Capacity: 20 Million Liters per Day (MLD)

Investment: ₹182 Crores

Purpose and Inauguration:

•With the aim of conserving the water resources and reducing the stress on the groundwater table, SIPCOT is promoting the use of tertiary treated water usage by industries. 

• Inaugurated  by Honorable Chief Minister on 13/06/2023, initiated the establishment of the TTRO plant, a revolutionary step towards sustainable water management.

• Capacity and Functionality: With a planned capacity of 20 MLD, this facility aims to provide treated water sourced from Kelavarapalli Dam to cater to the water needs of the Hosur SIPCOT Industrial Estate, encompassing 2,092 acres, the Shoolagiri SIPCOT Industrial Estate spanning 989 acres, and a forthcoming SIPCOT industrial park covering 1,800 acres.

Impact on Industrial Development:

Beneficiaries: Approximately 800 industrial units within these estates are slated to benefit from the TTRO plant, ensuring a consistent and sustainable water supply.

Economic Potential:

Anticipated to catalyze the establishment of new industries, this initiative is projected to attract investments amounting to ₹6,000 Crores and generate an additional 10,000 employment opportunities, bolstering the economic landscape of the state.
